Astronaut Tim Peake becomes the first Briton to join the ISS

After six years of training, the former army pilot lifted-off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan this morning, on his way to the International Space Station. On arrival, he became the first Briton to officially represent the UK on the ISS.

Huw Edwards has the latest – and ends the programme with some of the most enduring images from the day.
